As scrutiny mounts, Hadi urges PAS supporters to seek ‘God’s favour’

PAS is being attacked on all fronts and the way to deal with this is through munajat (worship), said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

In a post on his Facebook page last night, Hadi urged supporters to show penance by praying, fasting, reciting the Quran and charity.
"Seek tawassul (God's favour) in that there will be retribution in this world and the hereafter," he said.
Hadi reminded party supporters that God's powers were greater than "any government in this world".
"We appeal for the help of the all-powerful and exalted God. Have faith that the true struggle of Islam is righteous and its purpose true because of God," he said.
Hadi, however, did not address any current issue in particular. Hadi has been under the media spotlight after he withdrew his defamation suit against Sarawak Reporteditor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.
Rewcastle-Brown had alleged that PAS was paid RM90 million by their former arch-rival Umno. Following this, Hadi had raised funds from supporters to sue Rewcastle-Brown.
An out-of-court settlement was eventually reached, without Rewcastle-Brown having to apologise or retract her article.
Under siege
Earlier this week, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had alleged Hadi paid Rewcastle-Brown RM1.4 million as part of the settlement. PAS leaders initially denied the claim which would have implied that Hadi could not pursue the suit any further.
However, Rewcastle-Brown has since confirmed the transaction while PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli alleged that the payment was made through the head of a federal government-linked company who has close ties with Hadi.

PAS came under intense scrutiny after its former Youth wing leader Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz admitted that he lied about the veracity of an audio clipwhich recorded him stating that his party had benefited financially from Umno.
Hadi had responded to this controversy by stating that Islam permitted lying under certain conditions.
In recent days, several PAS leaders were called in by the MACC over allegations of financial impropriety, while some assets are believed to have been seized. - Mkini
