MIC to Streram - prove attack claims or we’ll sue

MIC wants PKR's Rantau candidate Dr S Streram to prove his claim that a MIC member had attacked a local PKR branch leader yesterday.

MIC deputy president M Saravanan said the party will sue Streram if he fails to prove this claim within 24 hours.

"The Home Ministry is under Pakatan Harapan. If it’s true that a MIC member did the attack, then arrest him and announce he is a MIC guy.

"Within 24 hours Streram has to prove his claim or apologise," Saravanan told Malaysiakini in Rantau today.

Yesterday evening, Taman Cempaka branch PKR chief K Suresh was attacked by a man while clearing out some bushes in the area.

He escaped with a cut on his left arm.

At a ceramah later, Streram claimed the attacker was from MIC.

Saravanan said this was a desperate claim by Streram.

"Streram is so desperate, he knows he is going to lose.

"No one sensible in Rantau will vote for Streram, so he's playing all these monkey tricks," he claimed.

He urged the Pakatan Harapan candidate to stop being dramatic. 

The Rantau by-election is a four-corned fight between Streram, Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan, and independent candidates R Malar and Mohd Nor Yasin. - Mkini
