DAP Youth has urged Buntong and Tronoh lawmakers, who defected from Perak Pakatan Harapan, to resign because they did not respect the wishes of the voters.
In a statement today, DAP Youth chief Howard Lee (photo) said the reason given by the duo for defecting - that they were doing do for the interest of their constituents - were untenable.
"Since when can't opposition lawmakers take care of their constituents? For years, you have both been in the opposition in Perak and people supported you.
"People supported you to the point (you eventually) was part of the government and one of you became a state cabinet member," said Lee in a statement today.
On March 9, Tronoh assemblyperson Paul Yong and Buntong assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam quit DAP alongside Titi Serong assemblyperson Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim, who quit Amanah.
The trio quit only after it was clear that the Harapan government had collapsed in Perak and pledged to support Faizal Azumu as menteri besar.
They claimed that they had quit and pledged allegiance to the new government in order to ensure that their constituencies continue to get government aid.
Following the events of the "Sheraton Move" in late February, the Harapan federal government had collapsed due to new political alignments.
This has led to three new state governments being formed and the changing of composition to six state governments. - Mkini
