Foodpanda refutes allegation that one of its riders is Covid-19 positive

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Food delivery service Foodpanda has dismissed claims that one of its delivery riders was suspected of or confirmed to be Covid-19 positive.
In a report by published by New Straits Times today, the local food delivery service refuted the allegation that arose following viral videos and messages online purportedly showing one of its riders collapsing at a corridor of an apartment block.
The rider was allegedly shown carried away by medical personnel, with a message in a video clip that further claimed that the person was a Foodpanda rider and that the police are now tracking down individuals who may have come in contact with the rider.
“We would like to verify that after checking with our rider fleet that there has been no suspected or confirmed Covid-19 cases among our riders,” the company said in a statement.
“Foodpanda also would like to add that they do not have a reason to believe that their wider business and customer communities have been impacted by this.
“Foodpanda will continue to monitor and keep all stakeholders updated on the development of Covid-19 to implement further measures as necessary,” it said.
Meanwhile, in a separate media statement issued recently, Foodpanda said it has distributed over 10,000 masks, 3,000 sets of gloves and hand sanitisers to its delivery partners.
It said that this was done to ensure that health and safety measures are in place for its riders as the Covid-19 pandemic develops throughout Asia.
The company also said that more such items would be distributed to the riders as the stocks are replenished, adding that it would also provide financial assistance of RM1,000 to any rider who is found to have contracted Covid-19 and RM300 to any rider who is quarantined. - Mkini
