Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan has urged the government to ensure that the drop in fuel prices translates to cheaper goods.
"When fuel prices drop significantly, the cost of transportation and distribution will also be lower which should result in a lower price of goods and cost of living.
"The relevant Perikatan Nasional government agencies should ensure the positive impact to the people's lives are felt immediately," he tweeted.
RON95 prices for the coming week will drop 19 sen at midnight from RM2.08 per litre to RM1.89 per litre.
Diesel will also be 17 sen cheaper, at RM1.96 per litre.
Oil prices had tumbled globally amid fears over Covid-19 and its impact on the economy.
Demand for oil in China, the world's largest consumer, has especially dropped amid the virus outbreak.
However, Opec countries are reportedly planning to slash crude oil supplies in an effort to boost up prices. - Mkini
