JOHOR BARU: A Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leader has called upon political leaders to stop criticising Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's Cabinet.
Without naming any party, Johor Bersatu secretary Mohd Solihan Badri (pic) said that such leaders should instead allow the new government to focus on managing the country.
"They should show some maturity especially with the country and the world facing the Covid-19 outbreak, which has already affected various economic sectors and the rakyat's welfare.
"In such a difficult time, everyone should give support towards the government instead of pressuring and voicing their demands to Muhyiddin on what they see as unfairness in appointing ministers and deputy ministers," he added.
Mohd Solihan, who is also Johor Works, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee chairman, said this in a statement here on Sunday (March 15).
He urged the political leaders to put aside their differences and dissatisfaction as the rakyat were watching.
The Umno senior leadership has been critical of Muhyiddin 's Cabinet selection, with their chief grouse being the sidelining of party proportions in Perikatan Nasional.
Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Umno MPs were given "non-critical" ministerial positions while vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the party was not subordinate to Bersatu or Muhyiddin.
The Cabinet line-up is made up of 31 ministers. It includes 11 representatives from Bersatu, nine from Umno, as well as one each from MIC and MCA. - Star
