Three charged separately in Seremban court with violating MCO

SEREMBAN: Three people, including two juveniles, were charged separately at the Magistrate's Court here Monday (March 30) with violating the movement control order.
In the first case, 35-year-old S. Chandramogan who pleaded guilty to the charge was fined RM1,000 in default four months' jail.
The welder from Ladang Linsum in Rantau had committed the offence at 1.15am on March 27 along Jalan Rantau-Air Kuning.
He was charged under Rule 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
Offenders can be fined up to RM1,000 or jailed not more than six months or both upon conviction.
Magistrate V. Vanita also fined Chandramogan another RM1,500 in default four months' jail for failing to produce his MyKad when stopped by the authorities at the same place and time.
He was charged under rule 25(1)(n) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, which provides a jail term of not more than three years or a fine not exceeding RM20,000.
Nur Atiqah Sapari and Norshazwani Ishak prosecuted while the accused was represented by Syed Fadzil Syed Shamsuddin from the Legal Aid Bureau.
Two 17-year-old juveniles also pleaded guilty to voluntarily obstructing a public servant from discharging his or her public functions in enforcing the MCO.
Both were, however, released on RM1,000 bail pending a report from the Welfare Department.
They were charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to two years or a fine not exceeding RM10,000 or both.
The first accused allegedly committed the offence at 5pm on March 25 at Taman Bandar Ekar in Rantau while the second did so at 9.30pm on the same day at Taman Desa Rhu in Sikamat.
The court then allowed the duo to be freed on a bail of RM1,000 each and fixed May 20 for remention. - Star
