CJ orders all courts to be fully operational from July 1

Malaysiakini

Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat (above) has instructed that all courts be fully operational from July 1.
This was in line with the announcement the country was moving into the recovery phase of the movement control order (MCO) from tomorrow.
“In light with (the announcement by) Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on June 7 on the recovery MCO and statement by Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali, be informed that Maimun has instructed that all courts be fully operational from July 1,” said a statement from the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court today.
“The Malaysian judiciary body is fully committed to ensuring the delivery of justice is continued while at the same time ensuring all safety and health regulations issued by the National Security Council (NSC) and Health Ministry are adhered to to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during court operations.”
Muhyiddin on Sunday announced that the country would be further easing regulations and standard operating procedures as it moved into the recovery MCO tomorrow up to Aug 31.
These include relaxation of regulations pertaining to interstate travel, non-contact and spectator sports, social activities as well as reopening of businesses such as hair salons, beauty centres and nail spas from June 10.
Following this, Zuki announced that all government services are to be fully operational during the implementation of the recovery MCO.
Prior to this, Malaysia was placed under a partial lockdown with the initial MCO on March 18. This was eased with the conditional MCO in May which allowed many businesses and social activities to resume in a bid to revitalise the economy.
The latest move is to further ease the country closer to new normal practices as the Covid-19 infection cases continue to drop. - Mkini
