Warisan secretary-general Loretto Padua has denied claims that four of the party’s MPs are defecting to support Perikatan Nasional.
In a statement today, Loretto (photo) said the claim is "absolutely untrue" and dismissed it as a "perception game" by PN to undermine Pakatan Harapan and its allies.
“This game is not only being played on Warisan MPs, but also state assemblypersons so that they would support PN. They are at a dead end.
“They (PN) brazenly peddled the names of the MPs by claiming they have agreed to defect. I am personally in touch with them and they are standing firmly behind Chief Minister Shafie Apdal,” he said in a statement today.
Loretto did not name the MPs rumoured to be defecting. He was responding to a report by a Malay-language daily that has since been deleted.
The statement comes as Harapan and its allies met earlier today to discuss its pick for the next prime minister. - Mkini
