Anifah Aman has reportedly urged his brother - former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman - to step aside for new people to lead the state.
This followed the latter’s failed political coup which led to the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly.
"As a Sabahan I appreciate what Musa has done, but I think the time has passed. Let the new people take over," said Anifah (above).
“Musa is my brother, I love him, but in politics, there are differences,” Bernama quoted the former foreign minister as saying.
Musa, who is the incumbent Sungai Sibuga assemblyperson, had led 32 other assemblypersons in a political coup and subsequently claimed to have secured sufficient support in the state assembly to form a new government.
However, the coup was foiled when chief minister Shafie Apdal sought the state governor’s permission to dissolve the assembly, thus paving way for fresh elections.
The Election Commission is expected to decide on key dates for the election during a meeting to be held on Aug 17.
Meanwhile, Anifah reportedly said his Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) will contest in the election alone and will launch its manifesto soon.
He said PCS will contest in at least half of the 73 available seats in the election.
"What matters most is that PCS must win, our state should be run by natives of Sabah, many are also willing to work with us," the PCS president was quoted as saying in the Bernama report. - Mkini
