6 new Covid-19 clusters detected in 5 states

 

Screening of close contacts of patients is going on in the clusters identified around the country.

PETALING JAYA: Six new Covid-19 clusters have been detected over the past 24 hours, the health ministry reported today.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said these clusters were known as Mesra and Megah in Sabah, Kaya in Negeri Sembilan, Bah Kayu in Selangor, Baki in Sarawak and Kempas in Johor.

The Mesra cluster, detected in Sandakan, first involved an individual exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 7.

A total of 116 people have been screened, with 22 testing positive, two negative and 92 awaiting their test results.

The Megah cluster, also detected in Sandakan, first involved an individual screened after exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 5.

A total of 64 people have been screened with 15 testing positive, 12 negative and 37 awaiting their test results.

The Kaya cluster, detected in Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya, first involved individuals screened at their workplace on Oct 24.

A total of 63 people have been screened, with 53 testing positive, six negative and two awaiting their test results.

The Bah Kayu detected in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, first involved an individual screened after returning from Sabah. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 13.

A total of 628 people have been screened, with 17 testing positive, 591 negative and 20 awaiting their test results.

The Baki cluster, detected in Kuching, first involved an individual screened after exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 17.

A total of 68 people have been screened, with five testing positive, 34 negative and 29 awaiting their test results.

The Mesra cluster, detected in Johor, first involved an individual screened after exhibiting symptoms. The patient was found to be positive on Oct 7.

A total of 206 people have been screened, with eight testing positive, 28 negative and 170 awaiting their test results. - FMT
