PETALING JAYA: PPBM’s Muar division will be lodging a police report against Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi for ignoring the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree for politicians to stop politicking.
This comes after Puad called for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation following the Agong’s decision to reject the government’s proposal to declare a state of emergency over the Covid-19 crisis.
Muar PPBM secretary Edzhar Jasmary confirmed the matter when contacted by FMT, adding that the report will be made at the district’s police headquarters later today.
“Puad urged Muhyiddin to resign although the Agong had decreed for politicking to stop. After the Agong’s decree, he still didn’t stop,” he said.
In a Facebook post, Puad claimed PPBM leaders had blamed International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali and Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin for the emergency fiasco during an “emotional” meeting at Muhyiddin’s private residence in Bukit Damansara on Sunday night.
He said the King’s rejection meant he had realised that the emergency proposal was only a political manoeuvre, and not a move to battle the pandemic.
On Sunday, the King decided against declaring an emergency, saying there was no need for one in any part of the country.
The King also stated his belief in the ability of the government under Muhyiddin’s leadership to continue implementing policies and actions to contain the spread of Covid-19.
“Still, His Majesty wishes to remind politicians to stop politicking, which can disrupt the stability of the country’s administration,” Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement. - FMT
