PUTRAJAYA: Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today cautioned Malaysians against believing claims by unscrupulous parties that certain products are able to cure Covid-19.
He stressed that there is currently no medicine which is able to cure Covid-19.
Responding to a question on the availability of medicine online which claim to be able to treat Covid-19 infection, Dr Noor Hisham said he is aware of the claims.
"We are aware that many parties have claimed that their medicine, including foods, can cure Covid-19 patients.
"At the moment, there is no medicine that can effectively cure Covid-19. These include hydrocloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir, and remdesivir.
"Currently, we are using dexamethasone to treat our patients.
"No medicine has been identified for Covid-19. It's okay if they want to take vitamins, but not medicine," he said. - NST
