Police arrested eight people for driving under the influence of alcohol at several locations in the Petaling Jaya district in an operation, codenamed ‘Op Alkohol’, which ended early today.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said those arrested were locals aged between 23 and 57 years.
"Police also issued 54 summonses against road users for various traffic offences during the operation, with 22 of them summoned for driving or riding without a valid license.
"Those who were summoned for not having a license are required to appear before the court at a date to be fixed for court proceedings," he said in a statement today.
Nik Ezanee said that 828 road users and 712 vehicles were inspected during the operation, held between 11 pm and 3am daily since last Friday.
