Sg Semenyih, Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants still not operational

The Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants which had their operation suspended yesterday due to pollution at the raw water source are still not operational as of 7.30am today.

Air Selangor in a statement said the pollution was still detected at the plants' intakes namely at level five of the threshold odour number (TON) at Bukit Tampoi and at seven TON level at the Sungai Semenyih.

“For the past 14 hours period, Air Selangor has not been able to produce 602 million litres of waters per day to be distributed to consumers in the affected areas,” it said.

The statement added that Air Selangor would provide updates on the unscheduled water supply disruption from time to time through all mediums including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Air Selangor's website.

Air Selangor would mobilise water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.

Consumers can also obtain information and get clean water supply at local service centres provided.

Yesterday, Air Selangor in a statement said that a total of 309,687 account holders in 274 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang would experience unscheduled water supply disruptions after the operations of two water treatment plants were suspended due to pollution at Sungai Semenyih.
