'Vellfire for Kedah MB' claim: State firm says Sanusi not involved in purchase

 

Syarikat Air Darul Aman Sdn Bhd (Sada), owned by the Kedah government, has responded to claims that it had purchased a new Toyota Vellfire for Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor.

Sada said in a statement that Sanusi was not involved in the decision to purchase the vehicle.

It also stressed that the purchase of the vehicle was done in accordance with procedures.

"With regard to the purchase of a Toyota Vellfire MPV with the plate number KEP 5000, which has gone viral on social media in the last few days, Sada would like to clarify that the vehicle was managed in accordance with Sada's procurement procedures," it said in a statement today.

It added that the purchase of the vehicle was decided by the Sada management and is intended for the use of its management. Sanusi is the chairperson of Sada.

"The Kedah menteri besar had nothing to do with the company's decision to purchase the vehicle," it said.

The response came after an allegation was circulated on social media claiming that Sanusi had taken delivery of the vehicle funded by Sada.

It claimed that the vehicle cost about RM345,000.

According to Toyota Malaysia's website, a Vellfire 2.5L has a retail price of RM367,881, without insurance. - Mkini
