PETALING JAYA: Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai has apologised to Annuar Musa over claims the Federal Territories minister had sold 42 assets belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in the past eight months.
In a Twitter post, Annuar said he received a surprise visit from Tan, who is also the DAP chairman, at his office in Parliament today.
“He handed over a letter of apology and retraction of his statement against me on Nov 18,” he said.
He thanked Tan for doing so and added that he will be referring to his lawyers.
Tan confirmed the matter when contacted by FMT, saying his statement was factually incorrect.
Tan had told a press conference at Parliament on Nov 18 that 42 plots of land belonging to DBKL had been sold after Annuar became minister, demanding that the Ketereh MP explain the transactions.
“Ever since Annuar became a minister, many plots of DBKL-owned land have been sold to private entities to be developed into housing, commercial and other projects.
“We are shocked that the minister has approved these sales in such a short time,” he said.
Annuar previously said he will be taking Tan to court over his claims, adding that he was “very disappointed and saddened” by his “very serious” allegations while denying the claims.
He said he had not approved a single sale of asset since being appointed as minister, and that Tan’s claims had misled the people and “caused all sorts of allegations” to be levelled against him. - FMT
