KUALA LUMPUR: The budget estimates of the ministry of science, technology and innovation were approved at the committee stage at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
The estimates were approved by a majority voice vote after a debate in which 10 government and opposition MPs took part.
Among the MPs in the debate were former environment minister Yeo Bee Yin (PH-Bakri); former health minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (PH-Kuala Selangor); Shahidan Kassim (BN-Arau); Lukanisman Awang Sauni (GPS-Sibuti); and Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PAS-Dungun).
Science minister Khairy Jamaluddin, winding up the debate, touched on several issues including the embracing of science, technology and innovation, cabotage, vaccines and SilTerra Sdn Bhd.
On SilTerra, Khairy said the government was preparing a memorandum to make a stand on national interests before deciding on the future of the local semiconductor company. - FMT
