PETALING JAYA: Two employees of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd working at the Kelana Jaya LRT station have tested positive for Covid-19.
Prasarana said the two employees were station officers who last reported for duty on Dec 12 and 13 respectively.
It added that this was a "closed incident" and did not involve close contact with passengers.
"Other employees who were in close contact with the Covid-19 positive employees were ordered to undergo testing and quarantine for 14 days," it said in a statement Wednesday (Dec 16).
Prasarana said it was committed to ensuring the safety of passengers and assured them that it was taking steps to ensure that all trains are safe.
"Following this incident, the Rapid Rail management operating the Kelana Jaya LRT line has conducted disinfection and cleaning of the workplace of the employees involved.
"The exercise was done in accordance with the guidelines set by the Health Ministry," it said, adding that all its trains are disinfected and cleaned at peak hours and after operations.
The company also reminded passengers to follow safety measures at all times.
"This includes wearing a face mask properly, washing your hands regularly with a disinfectant, recording your temperature and registering via the MySejahtera app or logbook before entering the train.
"These measures are crucial to break the Covid-19 infection chain and to help the Health Ministry do contact tracing if Covid-19 cases are detected," it said. - Star
