COVID-19 | The country reported 2,464 new cases of Covid-19 as of noon today, and seven deaths.
This is the lowest number of new cases reported nationwide since Jan 11 (2,232) - two days before the second movement control order (MCO) was implemented.
However, it must be noted that the Health Ministry had reduced testing on Jan 13, including not testing asymptomatic close contacts.
This was due to the strain the Health Ministry was facing due to a high number of Covid-19 cases.
The number of patients discharged today was 4,525, the highest on record.
Active cases have also reduced by 2,068 - the fourth straight day that active cases have been in decline.
- Active cases: 49,490
- Patients in ICU: 260
- Intubated: 111
Meanwhile, Johor continued to report a high number of new cases (51 percent) tied to new clusters.
DeathsOf the seven deaths today, three were from Sarawak, two from Selangor, and one each from Penang and Sabah.
The victim from Sabah was a 9-year-old boy, who suffered from a cancerous brain tumour.
The oldest fatality today was an 83-year-old.
All of the victims today were locals.
Details of the victims are on Malaysiakini's Covid-19 tracker page.
