Sarawak Pakatan Harapan today unveiled a revised line-up that will see PKR’s Miri MP Michael Teo Yu Keng fill the position of deputy chairperson.
The position has by convention been filled by the Sarawak PKR chief but the party has been hit by multiple defections.
Its chief, Baru Bian, defected to Parti Bersatu Sarawak and his successor, Larry Sng, also defected to support the Perikatan Nasional government last month.
The position of the Sarawak PKR chief is now vacant and the state chapter is being led by a “council of elders” in the interim.
Sarawak Harapan publicity secretary Abang Zukifli Abang Engkeh announced Teo’s (photo, above) appointment today.
Amanah’s Abang Abdul Halil Abang Naili will serve as the second deputy chairperson.
DAP Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen remains as the chairperson.
Zulkifli said the revision was in preparation for the Sarawak election which is due in August, the same time when the state of emergency expires.
He also announced that Harapan was forming a number of bureaus, including on land reform and the public service. - Mkini
