A drop of more than 150,000 in vaccine registrations on MySejahtera between March 10 and 11 was due to “data cleaning”, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
He said the app, which is one method for members of the public to apply for the inoculation, is undergoing an update to enhance features related to the Covid-19 vaccine programme.
“MySejahtera is currently updating the registration data in order to do things like issue appointment dates.
“Following the improvements, another category of data is being announced publicly every day, that is the percentage of vaccine registration for those above 18 years old for every state.
“The data, which is being updated, has also been cleaned of any repeated registrations and other issues such as change of address, so it’s a bit of data cleaning that has resulted in that (decrease in vaccine registrations),” Khairy said at a press conference on the progress of the National Immunisation Plan for Covid-19.
The press conference, which was also attended by Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, was held in Putrajaya and streamed through a live video conference call.
Khairy said this when replying to a question on why vaccine sign-ups had dropped in a number of states.
The minister also revealed that as of today, 5,534,114 vaccine registrations via MySejahtera were recorded as well as an additional 440,399 vaccine registrations through the call centre and website.
However, he noted that only about 200,000 of those who registered for the Covid-19 vaccination using the call centre and the website were unique entries.
The others, he said, were repeated registrations from those who applied using multiple methods.
Khairy said there were 1.3 million individuals who started the registration process for the vaccine via MySejahtera but never completed it as they only confirmed their name and IC number.
In order to complete the registration, individuals also need to include their current address, which can be updated any time as well as answer a health assessment test, he clarified.
“I hope they will complete it as soon as possible so that 1.3 million people can be added to the amount who have registered through MySejahtera.
"It is very important to provide an accurate and current address as people will be given vaccine appointments at the vaccination centre nearest to their address," he added.
Khairy gave a breakdown of the categories of people who have been vaccinated as of March 13, which revealed that only 0.11 percent were government officials and elected representatives.
Meanwhile, nurses made up 23.86 percent while the rest were doctors (22.23 percent), other health workers such as medical assistants and ambulance drivers (23.4 percent), security and safety personnel (21.33 percent), dentists (5.62 percent) and pharmacists (3.45 percent). - Mkini
