Perak assemblypersons Paul Yong (Tronoh) and A Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) have joined Bersatu.
The duo were formerly DAP members before defecting in March last year to support Perikatan Nasional.
Sivasubramaniam had joined Gerakan in June, while Yong was an independent.
With Sivasubramaniam's exit, Gerakan has no elected representatives.
Perak Bersatu secretary Zainol Fadzi confirmed their membership when contacted by Malaysiakini today.
According to Zainol, the duo's membership applications were submitted and approved last December.
Yong is now a member of the Batu Gajah Bersatu division, while Sivasubramaniam is in the Ipoh Barat division.
As non-bumiputeras, Yong and Sivasubramaniam would be part of Bersatu's associate members wing.
Under the party's constitution, associate members do not have any voting privileges in party matters. - Mkini
