Some police personnel reporting for duty at the Kedah contingent police headquarters (IPK) were surprised when their vehicles were stopped for a spot check at the entrance gate of the IPK.
According to police Kedah Facebook page, some officers, personnel, and civil officers of the IPK were slapped with summonses after they were found to have broken the law such as using fancy plate numbers.
The operation was conducted by the state traffic investigation and enforcement department, Integrity and Standard Compliance Department, and Special Branch.
Besides having their vehicles checked, confidential documents and security passes of the personnel were also inspected.
When contacted, Kedah police chief Hasanuddin Hassan (above) said the operation served as a reminder to his men that they, too, must obey the law.
"As an enforcement officer, we must be one step ahead of the public in following the law.
"The operation was not to find faults, but to ensure that the officers obey the law just like the public," he said.
Hasanuddin, who was the Kelantan police chief before he moved to Kedah last year, said he had done a similar operation in Kelantan.
"I have been doing since I was in Kelantan. It's normal and we will do this from time to time," he added. - Mkini
