KOTA KINABALU: The state government has issued a temporary closure order for markets in Keningau as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the district.
The closure, which affects both day and night markets would take effect tomorrow.
Today, Sabah recorded 102 new Covid-19 infections, with the Keningau district having the highest number of cases at 71 as compared to eight cases yesterday.
State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said one death was reported in Kota Kinabalu, while 41 patients were discharged. A total of 349 others are still receiving treatment in the state.
He said 18 patients were being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICU) with five patients requiring breathing aid.
Masidi added the 102 cases were detected via close contact screening (43), symptomatic screening (10), existing cluster screening (1), targeted screening (42) and others (6).
Other districts that registered new cases were Tawau (10), Kota Kinabalu (5), Putatan (5), Kota Belud (3), Lahad Datu (2), Telupid (2), Sandakan (1), Sipitang (1), Tuaran (1), and Penampang (1).
As of today, Masidi said 1,440 people have been inoculated against Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total to 40,799. - NST
