Woman who hit several cars and lamp post held for alleged drink-driving

 

KUALA LUMPUR: A Chinese national who allegedly hit three vehicles and a lamp post before abruptly reversing into a garage has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Esha said the incident occurred at about 11pm on Tuesday (March 23) along Jalan Bunga Mawar 5A.

"Investigations showed the woman was driving along Jalan Bunga Cempaka 2 before losing control of her vehicle and hitting a parked car on the left side of the road.

"She then reversed and hit a second car. The impact of the collision caused the second car to hit a third," he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 25).

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the suspect then drove off to Jalan Bunga Mawar 5A where she hit one more car, as well as a lamp post.

"She then reversed her car into a garage on the left side of the road.

"A breathalyser test conducted showed she was driving under the influence of alcohol and above the permitted level," he said.

The 54-year-old woman has been remanded until March 27 for further investigations.

Videos of the incident have been circulating on social media.

One video shows the vehicle reversing abruptly into the garage while another shows the woman stumbling out of the vehicle before being stopped by members of the public.
