KOTA KINABALU: Inter-district travel according to zones will be allowed again for 10 days from tomorrow, the state government’s Covid-19 spokesman, Masidi Manjun, said today.
Masidi said the inter-district travel ban would be banned again from May 27 to June 3, to prevent too much movement during the Kaamatan (harvest festival) celebrations on May 30 and 31.
“From May 27 to June 3, only Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang will be categorised as one district.
He reminded the public that only those with police permits or a valid inter-district permission document will be allowed to continue their journey.
“The people are advised to not try their luck to cross districts as the police will take action and order cars to turn back,” Masidi said.
The zones for inter-district travel are: Zone 1 – Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Ranau, Tuaran, Penampang, Putatan and Papar; Zone 2 – Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Sipitang; Zone 3 – Kudat, Kota Marudu and Pitas; Zone 4 – Sandakan, Beluran, Kinabatangan and Tongod; Zone 5 – Tawau, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Kalabakan; Zone 6 – Keningau, Tambunan and Tenom.
Kunak cases soar to 21 among family members
Earlier, he said infection among family members was a factor in the Covid-19 cases in Kunak soaring to 21 cases today, with the Kunak cases being the biggest contributor to the 87 new cases recorded in Sabah today.
“Other districts that recorded a large number of cases were in Kota Kinabalu with 18 cases while Tawau and Kalabakan each recorded 12 cases. “A new cluster, Jalan Menteri in Kota Kinabalu, was also recorded today and it involved a church there (Jalan Menteri) from Penampang,” he said. - FMT
