PETALING JAYA: Former Kuala Lumpur Archbishop Murphy Pakiam has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being warded in the ICU.

He has been classified as a Category 3 patient, and is displaying minor symptoms with pneumonia, according to the capital’s archdiocese.

“While the medical team have started him on medication to treat the pneumonia, his condition remains stable and he currently does not require supplemental oxygen therapy,” the communique read.

As a precaution, Pakiam’s medical team has decided to observe him in the ICU for the time being.

The Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese said Pakiam was admitted to Assunta Hospital on July 30 after testing positive.

It also said that Pakiam had received his second vaccination dose in June.
