PETALING JAYA
All premises managed by Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) in Perak are being monitored by the police, says Perak police chief Azizi Mat Aris.

However, he refused to divulge the locations of the premises.

Like the inspector-general of police said, they are on our radar. Wait and see,
Berita Harian quoted him as telling reporters at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in Ipoh.

Checks have found GISBH premises located in Jalan Rapat Bistari 1, Taman Rapat, in Ipoh, as well as shelter homes in Manjung and Kamunting.

On Sept 12, Azizi was reported as saying that Perak police had not received complaints or reports about GISBH.

Earlier today, Sarawak’s women, childhood and community wellbeing development minister Fatimah Abdullah said the state’s welfare department is also monitoring a childcare centre in Kuching linked to GISBH.

The Borneo Post reported her as saying the childcare centre was granted a five-year operating licence in 2014, but its operator did not renew the licence despite continuing operations after it expired in 2019.

She said the Sarawak welfare department found 18 children residing at the centre when it last inspected the premises on July 10.

Last Wednesday, police raided 20 welfare homes – which they had linked to GISBH – in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

According to police, 402 children were rescued and investigations showed that at least 13 of them were allegedly sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.

The authorities also arrested 171 people, including an ustaz and a hostel warden. - FMT
