PN MPs to discuss govt’s MoU on allocations on Monday

PN chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan previously said seven conditions were set for the opposition, including a requirement to support the government until the end of the parliamentary term.

PETALING JAYA
Perikatan Nasional (PN) will meet with all its MPs next Monday to discuss the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning constituency allocations.

PN chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said the views of all opposition MPs must be taken into account before making any decision regarding the conditions outlined in the draft MoU, Bernama reported.

However, he said he could not divulge specific details about the draft MoU as the document, which was handed to him on Aug 6, is classified.

“This discussion will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 9.

As I have hinted, the draft contains elements that require PN MPs to comply with certain conditions for the government to approve the allocations,
he told a press conference at the Kota Bharu Half Marathon today.

I cannot comment further as I need to first consult with all PN MPs and this matter is beyond my sole authority.

Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general, said PN representatives will meet with deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof after the discussion and they hope to reach a collective decision.

Earlier today, Fadillah said the opposition should air their grievances through proper consultations if they do not agree with the terms in the MoU.

Takiyuddin yesterday reportedly said the government had set seven conditions for the opposition, including a requirement to support the government until the end of the current parliamentary term, to be eligible for allocations. - FMT
