Video claims subsidised cooking oil are stockpiled and sold to a select few

ARE government subsidies really helping the people? Or is it being exploited by the rich or foreign nationals at the expense of Malaysian taxpayers?

Even in the past, there is more than sufficient evidence pointing to the ineffectiveness of government subsidies which are not being fully utilised by the poor of Malaysia.

A video on X by netizen MALAYSIA MOST VIRAL is yet another reinforcement to this thorny subject.

In the video, a vigilante could be seen tailing a foreign national, likely a worker in a convenience store.

He said the man claimed that stock for subsidised oil has already been sold out, but it was available when his friend came to make a purchase.

According to the narrator in the video, all the stock was kept in boxes at the back of the shop, which were then placed in a car for transportation.

No information was provided on the destination, but the narrator recorded the name of the shop in the video as Best Speedmart.

Comments by netizens further revealed the address of the shop at Jalan Aman Sinaria 7, 41200, Selangor.

As usual, netizens were furious over the exploitation of the government subsidy which is akin to robbing the poor.

Flex_Kuantan said non-citizens of Malaysia should not be allowed to sell subsidised goods.

Another netizen claimed that this issue has been dragging on for a long time.

Netizen Edruce.958 was furious, saying that if he was subjected to such an experience, surely he would scatter all the items in the shop.

Not unlike Edruce.958, a number of angry netizens suggested that the authorities go down hard on them.

Mr Qi, for example, suggested the authorities revoke the licence to distribute subsidised goods from the owner to curb the problem.

One netizen added that the person should be backlisted and brought to court.

“Many people are having difficulty gaining access to cooking oil since many of it is hidden. There are times when these are distributed to restaurants,” he added.

If what the narrator in the video claimed is true, we hope the authorities will perform the necessary action to ensure such exploitation does not happen again.

More than that, this also highlight the importance of vigilante and whistle blowers to curb the many social problems of our beloved nation. – Focus Malaysia
