Student who refuses to learn in English gets bashed by teacher online

WHEN education turns into drama, expect a memorable academic session that provides some fine pointers on being streetwise or common sense, or both.

In a video post on X by netizen YB PH, a maths teacher could be seen scolding a student in an online classroom session.

The reason? A student by the name of Mohd Syamil claimed that learning the lesson in English is equivalent to learning the language of the coloniser.

“I am a Malay, not a coloniser,” said the student, which got the blood of the teacher boiling.

“What makes you feel that when you speak in such a manner, it makes you feel great. May I know?” said the teacher, among many other things.

Netizen YB PH continued, saying that the whole world uses the language of the coloniser, aka English. “If you don’t want to be smart, don’t go to school. Sit in the village and grow potatoes,” said YB PH.

The majority of the netizens were equally unimpressed by Mohd Syamil’s misplaced sense of nationalism.

“Such a Malay. Surely his phone setting is in English,” said Afham Di.

KroniRakyat pointed out that the student used a laptop and the zoom technology which is the product of the coloniser.

Netizen #IniKaliLah added that after this, when Syamil is unable to get a job due to his inability to converse in English, he will blame the government. Either that or DAP.

“The teacher is alike a candle that burns itself to shine the road for the students who are lost in the dark. It matters not what language the teacher uses as long as the knowledge reaches. Be polite to your teacher who gives and humanises you. Open your mind that is so narrow,” said Mandarinjer.

The brief video did not provide clues to what happened after that, but ultranationalist Mohd Shamil should be reeling from the tongue lashing he received.

To Mohd Shamil we say, it is important to learn the language of the coloniser if you wish to embark in any meaningful endeavour to defeat them.

After all, the father of independence, Tunku Abdul Rahman, and the many liberators of our great nation are schooled in the language of the coloniser. Hope that helps. – Focus Malaysia
