PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim wants GLCs and GLICs to do more to drive innovation and development within the Bumiputera community.
“I challenge the heads of GLCs and GLICs to propose innovative ideas and drive initiatives related to Bumiputera economic development,” he said in a Facebook post.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the first Bumiputera economic council meeting of the year held today discussed empowering Bumiputera companies in government procurement.
He said the council is the country’s main platform to monitor the effective implementation of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (Putera35).
Anwar launched Putera35 last August to elevate the status of the Bumiputeras and enable all Malaysians to enjoy a better quality of life in line with the Madani economic framework.
Putera35 encompasses three core areas, 12 growth drivers and 132 comprehensive initiatives aimed at empowering and advancing Bumiputera development. - FMT
