Actor-politician Afdlin Shauki has denied allegations that he received Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) contracts worth millions without going through the proper process.
In a statement, the PKR member who also sits on the DBKL advisory board said the accusations by the Edisi Siasat Telegram account were an attempt by “unscrupulous” people to tarnish his image and were motivated by “jealousy and revenge”.
“First of all, I strongly deny that there was any wrongdoing in the acquisition of the projects mentioned (by Edisi Siasat).
“For public information, this was an attempt by an unscrupulous party to damage my reputation. Their agenda was motivated by misplaced jealousy and vengeance,” Afdlin said in the statement posted on Instagram.

According to the comedian, he also lodged a police report on the matter and urged the public to give authorities the room to investigate.
“I am also ready to provide full cooperation in any investigation regarding this matter by any law enforcement agency.
“Such slander and evil accusations should not be allowed to fester.
“I am confident that with God’s will, the truth will prevail,” he said.
Earlier this week, the Edisi Siasat Telegram account published a message accusing Afdlin of wrongdoings in the procurement of several DBKL projects involving creative works.
Following this, Kuala Lumpur mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif reportedly confirmed that DBKL has launched an internal investigation following the allegations. - Mkini
