KUALA LUMPUR: Former senior political secretary to the prime minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin is expected to give his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at their headquarters this afternoon.
He is one of three individuals called in by the MACC to assist in investigations into a video clip featuring a conversation between Sofia Rini Buyong and businessman Albert Tei.
It is understood that Shamsul Iskandar was initially scheduled to provide his statement earlier, but he was in Sabah and unable to return in time.
Sofia reportedly arrived at the MACC headquarters at 2pm yesterday, and as of 8pm, the process of recording her statement was still ongoing.
Tei is expected to be at the MACC headquarters on Monday to have his statement recorded.
He had allegedly claimed that he handed RM629,000 to the former senior political secretary after being assured that funds channelled to several politicians in Sabah could be recovered.
Screenshots of WhatsApp conversations and several photographs said to support the allegations have also been circulated.
On Tuesday, Shamsul Iskandar confirmed that he had submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. - NST
