KUALA LUMPUR: A screenshot showing a female student livestreaming on TikTok during a lesson has gone viral, prompting widespread outrage online.
The image was shared by Threads user @miezaid, who criticised the student's disrespectful behaviour.
"In class, the teacher was teaching, yet the student was livestreaming! It's as if the teacher was talking to a tree stump. What's even more infuriating is the rude language and comments being made.
"Is this the generation we're supposed to be proud of? Students bringing mobile phones to school and going live during lessons! I urge the Education Ministry to take this matter seriously. Don't let the reputation of our educational institutions be tarnished because of a handful of students who have lost respect for their teachers," the user wrote.
He also urged netizens not to condone such behaviour.
In the comments, many Threads users voiced anger and disappointment, calling for firm disciplinary action from the school.
Meanwhile, user @daffodilskuning argued that the student's identity should not be concealed if there is clear evidence of wrongdoing.
"Who gave this child a phone? Her parents, right? For those who captured screenshots of the livestream, why hide her face? Just share it. The school badge is visible — email it to the principal for action. Show the parents the offensive comments as well. Parents have been neglecting their responsibilities for too long," the user said.
Another user, @huzaifahmadani, questioned why the phone had not been confiscated.
"Give a warning, and if it happens again, confiscate it. Aren't there discipline teachers in schools? Posting about it on Threads won't solve anything. Teachers can file a report and call the parents," he said. - FMT
