KUALA LUMPUR: A groom was moved to tears when a group of his former schoolmates from Sabah made a surprise appearance at his wedding following last-minute planning.
A TikTok post uploaded by user @afiqkandi_ last Tuesday has since gone viral, amassing more than 280,000 views.
The clip shows the groom breaking down as he hugs his friends, who had travelled from Sabah to the peninsula to be by his side on his big day.
Afiq said the heartwarming reunion began when the groom casually sent his wedding invitation card to their old school group chat.
With the ceremony barely a week and a half away, most assumed it was too late to make arrangements.
But the friends from Sabah were determined.
In the video caption, Afiq wrote that the group discussed the idea for only a day before immediately booking flight tickets, finding a homestay and applying for leave.
"It's normal that when you plan too far ahead, things don't happen.
"You have to do it on the spot and last-minute. God willing, the plan will work."
"After 10 years, it's been so difficult to spend time together like this.
"We understand that everyone now has their own life - families, children, responsibilities - so it's not easy to meet and gather with school friends anymore," he added.
TikTok users flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages, praising the strong friendship and the effort made by the group. - NST
