MCMC today initiated a public consultation on the proposed regulatory framework for the Online Safety Plan.
In a statement, MCMC said the consultation includes draft Codes of Risk Mitigation and the Child Protection Code as part of the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2025 (ONSA).
“The proposed regulatory framework and draft codes aim to strengthen online platforms’ capacity to manage safety risks, with particular emphasis on protecting children, families, and vulnerable groups.
“These documents set out clear requirements for service providers to take reasonable and effective measures to practically reduce online harm,” MCMC said.
Through the public consultation, MCMC is inviting public participation to help shape a safer online ecosystem, including feedback on the effectiveness and feasibility of measures to enhance online safety protections.
“The public, industry players, civil society organisations and other stakeholders are encouraged to review the consultation documents and submit their feedback,” the statement read.
MCMC said written feedback may be submitted, either physically or electronically, by 5pm on March 13.
