The Shah Alam High Court today set aside a two-day remand order against Tamim Dahri and three of his friends that had been issued by the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court earlier this morning.
When contacted, his lawyer Aidil Khalid confirmed the matter to Malaysiakini.
“In the proceedings at the High Court this afternoon, the landowner himself, Ismail Mina, made the effort to attend the proceedings to show that he had indeed requested Tamim’s assistance to clear the encroached land.
“Alhamdulillah, the High Court has cancelled the two-day remand against Tamim and his three friends,” he said.
Aidil said an application to challenge the remand order was filed immediately after the morning’s proceedings before by magistrate Chai Guan Hock.
He added that High Court judge Roszianayati Ahmad ordered that they be released immediately.
Earlier, the magistrate had allowed the police’s application to remand the four individuals to assist investigations into a case believed to be linked to the demolition of a house of worship in Taman Rawang Perdana yesterday morning.

The lawyer for those alleged to have carried out the act said they had acted in line with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s directive to “clear” illegal temples.
One of those detained was Tamim. He had also been arrested last Saturday, ahead of a protest against such temples. - Mkini
