Police open murder probe after sack of human bones found in Perlis

 The bones were discovered by a man clearing undergrowth on a plot of land.

Police have opened a murder investigation following the discovery of human bones in a sack in Kangar, Perlis, yesterday, which could be linked to a similar discovery late last month.

Kangar police chief Yusharifuddin Yusop said police received a report at 12.55pm from the man who discovered the bones.

He said the 61-year-old was clearing undergrowth on a plot of land belonging to his daughter when he stumbled upon several bones that had fallen out of a torn, rotting sack.

“The bones were discovered on reserve land belonging to the Muda Agricultural Development Authority bordering his daughter’s land.

“The witness immediately called the Simpang Empat police station,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.

Yusharifuddin said an inspection of the site found several bones, a pair of boxer briefs, a pair of shorts and a belt inside the sack, all believed to have been there for some time.

“Measurements taken by the forensic team showed the site was only about 31.1m from where human bones were previously found on July 26,” he said.

Those bones were found in a sack in an orchard in nearby Kampung Bohor Mali.

Yusharifuddin said both cases were being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, and all the items had been sent to the forensic division of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for pathological analysis.

He urged anyone with a missing relative to lodge a report at the nearest police station or contact investigating officer Tengku Farid Tengku Ibrahim at 019-993-9200 to assist in the probe. - FMT
