In the 55-second video filmed by a passenger in the ambulance, the SUV driver was seen taking advantage of the path cleared by motorists who had moved to the side to let the emergency vehicle pass.
The driver also had the vehicle's hazard lights switched on while closely following the ambulance.
The video was uploaded to the "DashCam Owners Malaysia" Facebook page on July 30 by user Muhammhd Alif Danial.
Alif urged the online community to lodge official complaints against the driver.
The video quickly drew criticism from social media users, many of whom demanded severe penalties to deter other motorists from engaging in similar practices.
Facebook user Howseng Lee called for the driver's driving privileges to be revoked.
"Revoke their licence immediately so that people like this will be afraid to do something like this in the future," he commented.
Another user, Chek Fizie, tagged the authorities in the comments and said: "Road Transport Department, please revoke their licence."
Meanwhile, commenter Khairul Afqar Yusof reminded the poster that specific details were needed for the authorities to act on the submission.
"Provide the details of the time and location. To report to the Road Transport Department, you need this information," he said - NST
