Aminuddin unfazed by poll predictions, confident of PH gains

The state PH chairman said such forecasts were merely desk-based analyses and did not reflect the actual situation on the ground.

"Those are just analyses based on information on paper. They have not gone down to the ground to see the reality.

"PH is not affected by these analyses as they are made by outsiders, while the situation on the ground is different. I am confident PH can surpass 19 state seats," he told reporters after casting his ballot at Institut Perguruan Raja Melewar in Sikamat this morning.

Aminuddin said he remained confident of a positive outcome, adding that PH machinery continued working hard to meet voters until late last night.

"I have checked all the areas we are contesting and they have good potential. Insya-Allah, I believe the machinery is not discouraged despite various speculations," he said.

He also expressed gratitude that the voting process was proceeding smoothly, with favourable weather and a calm atmosphere at polling centres.

Previously, PH communications director and PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said election outcomes were not determined solely by surveys or predictions, but by the wisdom of voters who turned up to cast their ballots.

Aminuddin, who is also PH's Linggi candidate, arrived at the polling centre at 8.35am and queued alongside other voters before casting his vote at 9am.

The PKR Negri Sembilan chairman was accompanied by his political secretary Norazman Mohamad, who is also PH's Sikamat candidate.

Before leaving, Aminuddin took time to pose for photographs with several voters who approached him.

In this election, Aminuddin is not defending the Sikamat seat he won in 2023 with a majority of 2,662 votes, but is instead contesting Linggi, a Barisan Nasional stronghold.

The Linggi seat is seeing a three-cornered contest involving Aminuddin, BN incumbent Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli and Bersatu's Datuk Zamri Md Said.

The 16th Negeri Sembilan election involves contests for all 36 state seats.

The Election Commission expects the earliest results to be announced from 10pm, with the full results expected by midnight. - NST
