BOMBSHELL – 8TH PM DESIGNATE ANWAR ‘CONSIDERING’ OFFER TO CONTEST AT SUNGEI PETANI, SAYS JOHARI, AS PUBLIC CLAMOR GROWS FOR CHARISMATIC PKR BOSS TO RETURN TO PARLIAMENT: WITH 5 FEDERAL MPs WILLING TO QUIT THEIR SEATS, ‘NOT INTERESTED TO BE SELANGOR MB’ ANWAR CONFIRMS NOT CONTESTING AT SERI SETIA STATE SEAT

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Johari Abdul today revealed that up to five MPs from PKR will offer to vacate their seats to enable the return of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a lawmaker.
The PKR parliamentary whip, who said that he would vacate his Sungai Petani seat for Anwar if required to do so, added that he had met Anwar and offered his seat.
“He said that he would consider (my seat),” Johari told reporters in Parliament.
Previously, Selayang MP William Leong also had offered his seat for Anwar, who is planning to make a comeback to the lower house via a by-election.
“There will be a lot, maybe four or five who will offer their seats,” Johari said.
Both his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar, who are MPs for Pandan and Permatang Pauh respectively, had ruled out vacating their seats to make way for Anwar.
Anwar was elected PKR president uncontested earlier this week, some two months after he received a royal pardon and was released from his prison stint.
Anwar was last MP of Permatang Pauh up to 2015, when he was imprisoned under sodomy charges.  – Malay Mail

ANWAR NOT KEEN ON BECOMING MB, NOT CONTESTING IN SERI SETIA

INCOMING PKR president Anwar Ibrahim will not stand in the Seri Setia state seat by-election in Selangor on September 8.
“I don’t want to be menteri besar. No need to be state assemblyman. It never crossed my mind,” said Anwar during a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.
“I’m returning to Parliament as a backbencher. Reforms in Parliament are critical in a vibrant democracy,” he added.
Anwar, who is expected to succeed current Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in two years’ time, reiterated that he is in no hurry.
“Now we give our full support to Dr Mahathir. He should be given full space to govern without pressure or coercion,” he said.
The Seri Setia by-election was called following the death of its incumbent, Shaharuddin Badaruddin, who was PKR vice-president and a Selangor exco, due to cancer on August 2.
Anwar won the PKR presidency uncontested last Sunday, taking over from his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.  – https://www.themalaysianinsight.com
