BUKIT MERTAJAM: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has urged the central election committee to implement “more realistic” rules for candidates contesting in the party election.
Nurul Izzah, who is Permatang Pauh MP, said it would be difficult for candidates if the new rules were not practical as the election involved 800,000 members nationwide.
“I know there are several candidates contesting in the PKR election this time who have voiced their views (about this),” she told reporters after an event in Guar Perahu here yesterday.
“Some don’t agree with some of the new rules set by the central election committee which are not realistic or practical.
“The committee should take into account some of these matters before making the rules as PKR is the only party that runs direct voting involving all registered party members.”
Nurul Izzah was commenting on a report quoting PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad as saying the new rules barring election candidates from holding ceramahs and organising receptions attended by over 100 people were not practical.
PKR has also barred its candidates from using group images in their campaign materials.
