KL City Plan to be gazetted this year, says FT minister

PARLIAMENT | The Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 will be gazetted in this year, said Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
The city plan, which provides the guideline for Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for approving development projects, was first prepared in 2005 and amended in 2015.
"It was supposed to be gazetted in April 2015, but unfortunately, this was postponed by the previous administration," he said during the winding up of royal decree debate at Dewan Rakyat today.
"I share the disappointment, but unfortunately I myself did not get an explanation as to why it was not gazetted," he said.
He acknowledged that the city plan that will be gazetted may not reflect the development on the ground today.
DBKL will compile all the violations of the city plan as compared to the actual development for reference purposes, he said.
As for the 64 allegedly dubious deals involving DBKL land plots, Khalid said the special committee which was set up to probe the matter will submit its proposal to the prime minister for approval.
The committee has proposed that some of the lands will be retrieved by cancelling the contracts, while some will continue with some improvements, while others will be continued as according to the original contract, Khalid noted.
Khalid said whatever is lacking in the city plan, will be addressed in the drafting of the structural plan 2020-2040 and city plan 2020-2040.
The two masterplans will be gazetted at the end of 2020, he said. -Mkini
