KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Pakatan Harapan Government will retain the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) 2.0 and open it to more suppliers who will provide their products to the chain.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic) said the ministry will continue to ensure that the chain benefits the people by providing goods which are cheaper than those sold in other outlets.
“We are not obsessed about branding, but the reason for retaining KR1M is to provide goods which are priced competitively and cheaply for the people,” he said at the oral question-and-answer session at the Senate sitting on Tuesday (Aug 28).
He was answering a supplementary question from Senator Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah who wanted to know KR1M's status after the change of government.
There are 51 KR1M 2.0 outlets operating throughout the country. - Bernama
