MACC to quiz Najib again, this time over 'stolen' RM3.5m

MACC will record statements from former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak regarding his allegation that the RM3.5 million stolen from the prime minister's office belonged to Umno.
According to an MACC source, Najib would have to be called in for questioning after he publicly stated that the money was meant for Umno's campaign purposes.
On Wednesday, Malaysiakini had reported that 17 security personnel had carted off RM3.5 million in cash from the prime minister's office on the night of the 14th general election.
The group was alleged to have cleared out the cash in the office after realising that BN was about to lose the election.
They were arrested on complaints that they were flashing their sudden wealth.
Following this, Najib told Malaysiakini that he kept Umno funds in cash at the prime minister's office and it was meant for campaign purposes. He said most of it was transferred from the prime minister's office to an apartment in Kuala Lumpur.
"I am not sure why the RM3.5 million was not stored in safes with the rest of the other campaign funds, but I believe it could have been late campaign contributions sent over," he said.
Since losing the May 9 elections, Najib has been making regular trips to the MACC to have his statements recorded in connection to investigations on 1MDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Currently, Najib is facing seven charges for criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of power. - Mkini
