PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong says Muhyiddin Yassin, who underwent surgery in the republic recently, is recovering well.
In a Facebook post, Goh revealed that he had a good chat with his “old friend”, where they reminisced over what they did to promote Johor-Singapore relations when he was the prime minister and Muhyiddin was the Johor menteri besar.
Muhyiddin, who is now home minister, was the Johor menteri besar from 1986 to 1995.
“I would go up to his residence, Saujana, for Hari Raya get-togethers (durians were the highlight) and he would come down to Istana for CNY (Chinese New Year) dinners,” Goh said.
Goh, who led Singapore from 1990 to 2004, also uploaded a black and white picture of one of their get-togethers and one taken when visiting Muhyiddin at the hospital.
Muhyiddin had undergone an operation to remove a growth on his pancreas.
He has taken leave since July 12 to undergo follow-up treatment and is expected to be back to work within a month’s time.

Goh said that the former deputy prime minister was recovering well and was expected to be discharged soon.
“Wish him smooth sailing ahead as Malaysia needs him,” he added.
Goh’s visit comes days after Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Muhyiddin.
