Najib's case: Sarawak Report editor surprised to be dragged into gag order bid

Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown is surprised that she is being dragged into former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's court case.
This is in relation to the defence seeking a gag order on the media and public in relation to his seven charges.
Najib's lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had cited Sarawak Report's articles in his argument that there should not be a “trial by media” or interference with court proceedings.
However, Rewcastle-Brown, who was at the Jalan Duta Court Complex in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon, disagreed.
The London-based editor denied that her reports could affect the outcome of the trial.
"I do not think the (articles in Sarawak Report) have an impact as this is not a jury trial and the judge is able to do his job.
"I report factually and none of my reports has been disputed," she told reporters.
Sarawak Report and the Wall Street Journal were the first to expose the transactions involving Najib's bank accounts, including the RM2.6 billion and the RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd in 2015.
The previous government had blocked access to Sarawak Report after it accused Rewcastle-Brown of conspiring with Dr Mahathir Mohamad to topple Najib and publishing false claims.
Najib has claimed trial to the seven criminal charges that are related to SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
The charges range from criminal breach of trust to abuse of power and money laundering. - Mkini
