Nurul Izzah to defend vice-president’s post

This was confirmed by PKR's communications director Fahmi Fadzil who filed the nomination papers on her behalf.
Nurul Izzah Anwar’s form was submitted by party communications director Fahmi Fadzil.
PETALING JAYA: Nurul Izzah Anwar will defend her vice-presidency in the PKR polls in September.
This was confirmed by the party’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil who filed the nomination papers on her behalf at the PKR headquarters.
“She could not come herself as she is in her constituency,” he said, referring to Nurul’s constituency, Permatang Pauh.
Nurul, who is the daughter of PKR de fecto leader Anwar Ibrahim, has been the party’s vice president since 2010.
Earlier today, Anwar, through a representative, sent in his nomination form for the top post.
Meanwhile, Fahmi also announced he is vying for a spot in the party’s central leadership council (MPP).
“I may have to give up my post as a communications director to someone else,” the Lembah Pantai MP said.
Apart from Nurul, two others submitted their nomination forms for the vice-president’s post, namely Selayang MP William Leong and former Subang Jaya Municipal Council member Michael Tamil.
Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Rashid Hasnon and Bandar Tun Razak MP Kamaruddin Jaafar also submitted their nomination papers to contest for a place in the 20-seat MPP.
The party’s Central Election Committee secretary, Ismail Yusof said until noon today, the committee had received 22 nomination forms for seats in MPP. - FMT
